Current Volunteer Opportunities:

Registration and Information: Are you friendly and detail-oriented? You could be the face of our event!

Enthusiastically welcome guests
Check in guests upon arrival in accordance with provincial regulations (proof of vaccination, valid government ID)
Sell passes
Answer questions regarding the event schedule, workshops, and venue
Smile and have fun!

Backstage Assistant:

Are you not afraid to speak up and get people’s attention? Do you thrive in a fast-paced, energetic atmosphere? Do you love all things showbiz?

Organize performers in order of appearance
Attendance and check-in of performers to the backstage area
Monitor flow of performers on and off the stage area
Check out all the amazing costumes!

Workshop Monitor:

Do you like keeping things on track? Do you love the idea of making the events run smoothly and on time?

Monitor the workshop space for capacity, traffic flow
Answer questions regarding the workshop schedule
Give instructors a 5-minute warning
Encourage guests to exit the workshop space in a timely manner
Get an inside look at incredible workshops and instructors!

Technical Assistant:

Are you just a little tech savvy? Do you like solving problems?

Ensure instructors are able to plug in their music devices to the sound system (phones, Ipods, etc.)
Keep track of aux cords during your shift
Assist instructors with sound check
Coordinate with CBF staff for any problems

Floater:

A little bit of everything, and a whole lot of fun!

Fill in for any missing roles
Assist the Volunteer Coordinator or organization team with other tasks

Formerly known as the Ottawa Bachata Festival, the event began as an idea in 2017 and grew into an annual celebration of Bachata in the National Capital Region.

The Capital Bachata Festival is organized by Capital Region Bachata, a non-profit organization that strives to provide hundreds of dancers of all levels opportunities to learn, dance and perform with Latin dance professionals from across Canada and internationally.

The Capital Bachata Festival offers four days of Latin dance workshops, social dancing and performances throughout the National Capital Region!

Though the festival`s emphasis is on Bachata, it also showcases other styles of Latin dance that have been known to influence Bachata over the past few decades. Workshops range from Beginner to Intermediate level and will provide attendees a chance to learn styling, patterns, footwork and tricks & lifts. In the evenings our attendees get the chance to take what they learned out on the dance floor until 3AM, after being inspired by some incredible shows from local, national and international performers!
